Morning Workshops

A. Opportunities for Affordable Housing in Rural Communities

The face of rural homelessness and housing affordability is unique. This Workshop will help you to identify your local needs and gaps, and build partnerships in your community by establishing relationships with local leaders and elected officals. You will be learning about planning & funding resources available to you, as well as hear stories, and explire case studies from parish experience.

B. Development 101: "Getting Started"

Developing church lands with an element of affordable housing is an exciting and complex endeavor. It is also an exercise of mission and evangelism for the twenty-first century. This workshop will focus on both the technical aspects of affordable housing development and the realities of congregational readiness to undertake affordable housing construction on church lands.

Afternoon Workshops

C. No Money and No Land? Ways your Parish can get Involved.

Our hope is that every parish will be engaged in our diocesan affordable housing initiative. Your parish may not have developable land or money in the bank, don’t worry there is lots you can do! This workshop will provide case study and examples for how you can get involved through learning, prayer, advocacy, and action.

D. Creating Innovative Partnerships for Housing

Faith communities have a unique opportunity to play a facilitative role in creating partnerships to achieve affordable housing. We’ll give you some tips for forging strong relationships between neighbours, business leaders, and government that will benefit you in the early days and for the long term.
