We're Not Really Strangers V-Day Friendship Mixer - Fundraiser for Jack.org
Event Information
About this event
The Brown Women's Empowerment Sisterhood is incredibly excited to announce its newest event, a fundraising campaign and social networking event titled We're Not Really Strangers™: Valentine's Day Virtual Friendship Mixer. In honor of Valentine's Day and to help alleviate some of the social isolation that many are experiencing due to to COVID-19, we have organized this online friendship mixer to raise funds for Jack.org, a youth-led organization committed to mental health and suicide prevention. We chose this organization as our beneficiary to support their COVID-specific programming in light of the difficulties faced by our community in accessing mental health support throughout the pandemic.
Please note: to participate, a $5 minimum donation is required. You can make this donation by purchasing a ticket to our event through this Eventbrite page. The event link, which will lead you to Zoom, is only accessible by purchasing a ticket.
The We're Not Really Strangers™ card game includes three carefully crafted levels of questions and wildcards that allow players to deepen their existing relationships and create new ones. Our event will comprise of 7 short rounds of 7-minute long bonding experiences with other players using the three levels of cards. As COVID-19 circumstances have severely limited our ability to connect with others in a meaningful way, we hope that this online friendship mixer will be an opportunity for participants to make new social/professional/other connections, meet interesting people, and contribute to a great cause all at once.
ABOUT JACK.ORG : "Jack.org is Canada's only charity training and empowering young leaders to revolutionize mental health in every province and territory. Through Do Something, Jack Talks, Jack Chapters, and Jack Summits, young leaders identify and dismantle barriers to positive mental health in their communities. And through ambitious innovations in youth mental health like Be There, we give people the mental health resources they need to educate themselves. We're working towards a Canada where all young people understand how to take care of their own mental health and look out for each other. A Canada without shame, where all those who need support get the help they deserve. Our movement is powered by tens of thousands of advocates and allies across every province and territory of Canada. And we're just getting started."
We hope to see you there! Please share widely with your network to support this initiative.
