West Carleton: Call for Community Volunteers
Event Information
Description
OBEC is developing a community sustainability plan for West Carleton, the large rural area past Kanata and we need passionate volunteers to plan steps to make your community more sustainable.
Volunteer facilitators will lead community discussions on 23 April (St George's Church in Fitzroy Harbor), 24 April (St. James Church in Carp) There will be breakout groups on different Theme - e.g. Transportation, Energy, Food etc. Groups will suggest projects for individuals (e.g. insulate your basement, buy local food etc) and for the community. Discussions last an hour and a quarter, after a 15 minute general introduction.
After the workshop, it will take about an hour for the facilitators to input group ideas into a couple of templates to create the sustainability plan and implementation strategy (start-up tips).
Total time for meetings and downloading ideas into templates is about 4 hours. There is also training material to read, and that is accessed when anyone registers on the website.
