Event description

Description

Join Stan Novotny and Stuart Clark during this wildlife workshop where they discuss their adventures, photographing wildlife on and off of Vancouver Island and walk you through their editing process.

Overview:

A discussion on Wildlife Photography and Conservation: We will have an open discussion about conservation and what you can do to help your local wildlife including ethics of photographing wild animals.

Photo Gear: What you need and don't need when it comes to photo gear. We will guide you to work with what you have and help guide you towards your next purchase.

Composition and Techniques: Taking a photograph is a little more than just focusing and capturing a moment in time. We will cover how to create a compelling photograph and the technique behind our images.

Editing: We will both go over our post-processing techniques on a few platforms that will give you some options when it comes to editing your photos. We encourage you to bring a laptop for some hands-on editing tips, but it's not necessary to attend. If you don't have a laptop that's ok. We will provide support after the workshop is over.

Critique: We will ask our participants to submit a photo or two for critique. This is optional, but a critique of your photo will help you grow and see what you may or may not be seeing in your work.

This workshop is a classroom-based workshop that will lead into future hands-on workshops in the field. What you learn on November 19th, 2017 will get you started in the right direction to creating sharp, beautiful and ethical wildlife images.
