Event description

Description

The concept of CIVIC engagement might be foreign to many newcomers. Join us for a lively community discussion to explore the concept of CIVIC engagement for newcomer residents in Surrey. How do immigrants learn about volunteer leadership opportunities? How do they participate in civic affairs? What would help immigrant residents to get more involved in their community?

The discussion is taking place as a part of the Inclusive City Cafe 2018 Winter-Spring series. Coffee and tea is provided.

About Moderators: This community dialogue session will be facilitated by members of the Surrey Immigrant Advisory Roundtable (IAR). IAR is a group of 16 immigrant and refugee residents who work together to make Surrey more welcoming and inclusive. About The Inclusive City Cafés: This community activity was initiated in the fall of 2015. This series is a partnership between the Surrey Local Immigration Partnership—LIP, City of Surrey, Surrey Libraries, SFU Philosopher’s Café, and the SFU Surrey-TD Community Engagement Centre. The Cafes take place every 3rd Thursday of the month at the City Centre Library.
