Description

What floats your municipal vote? Join us for an ELN Twitter chat!

Affordable housing. Transit. Community safety. Employment opportunities. Environmental impact. Poverty. The list of issues that affect our communities is a long one.

With municipal elections swiftly approaching, we want to hear what you - our region’s rising leaders -have to say about the municipal issues that matter most to you and what you think our next city councils should do about them. As new councils form post October 23rd and decide what to tackle in the coming years, we want to amplify the issues that you care about so that they’re first on the council’s agenda.

To participate in the chat:

  • Register on Eventbrite so we can send you important updates and reminders leading up to the chat.
  • Log into Twitter Wed., Oct. 17 from 12pm-1pm and follow @ELNonline or #LiveHereVoteHere.
  • Respond to questions or voice your own questions or thoughts on a municipal topic. Include @ELNonline and #LiveHereVoteHere in your reply for your response to be a part of the chat.
  • You can also include your municipality and ward (e.g. #TorontoWard23) if your comment is specific to a certain city or area.
  • As a rule, please keep responses respectful; posts that are derogatory, discriminatory, or threatening to another user will not be tolerated.

During the chat, you’ll also get the chance to discuss the topics with special guest and CivicAction CEO Sevaun Palvetzian (@SevaunP) who will be in attendance. Read Sevaun's take on the 5 issues every Toronto voter should consider before casting a ballot.

Find out what other municipal election initiatives the ELN is up to on our website.

For those of you voting in Toronto, KnowYourVoteTO is a great resource put together by the Toronto Public Library that has info on key election issues as well as candidate’s positions.
