About this event
Laurie Evan Fraser conducts the 30-voice mixed choir, with pianist Hye Won (Cecilia) Lee in Christmas music written and arranged principally by 20th and 21st century composers with texts from the 14th century to the present. The concert features Christmas Fanfare, written in 1985 by Canadian composer Nancy Telfer, John Rutter’s setting of the Herrick poem What Sweeter Music, two works by U.S.-based composers , Noel Goemanne’s Sing We Noel, and Elaine Hagenberg’s Sweetest Music Softly Stealing and concludes with A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas.
Cantemos, the choir’s accomplished Latin ensemble, will sing O magnum mysterium by Venezuela’s César Alejandro Carrillo, a traditional Catalan Christmas song describing gifts for the Baby Jesus and Dormi Jusu written by Artistic Director Laure Fraser
