Event description
A One-on-One Poetry Workshop with Jan Zwicky

About this Event

This workshop, suitable for all levels of experience, offers a focused, one-on-one response to your work, including both detailed written editorial suggestions, and a half-hour of telephone discussion.

Submit up to 90 lines of poetry, in any format, by August 10. You may submit a number of shorter poems, or a single long poem, or an excerpt from an even longer poem. Prose poems are welcome. And don’t feel you have to submit a full 90 lines. Three ten-to-twenty line poems would make a fine submission. (There is one exception to the 90-line limit: if you are writing haiku, or other extremely short forms, please submit no more than ten poems.) Jan Zwicky will arrange a telephone conversation with you to discuss the edit she will have prepared, as well as questions you may have about your work, or about poetry in general.

Please double- or 1.5-space all work. Submit electronic copy, in an attachment, to info@victoriafestivalofauthors.ca by August 10. A .pdf is preferable. Include an email address and telephone number. Meetings will occur August 22, 23 and 24. If there is a day/time you cannot attend, indicate this with your submission.

***

Jan Zwicky is the author of nearly twenty books of poetry and prose, most recently The Long Walk and The Experience of Meaning. Her work focusses on the natural world, music, and epistemological politics.
