What's New in Addiction Medicine? is a lunch-time series featuring local and international experts, clinicians, and researchers who will deliver the latest research and information on novel, evidence-based addiction medicine topics.

This free series is geared towards the needs and interests of individuals operating in a healthcare or research setting, however, the public and other interested stakeholders are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Please note that you will not need to bring your registration ticket(s) to the event.

Learning Objectives:

1) To discuss mechanisms of toxic brain injury in opioid overdose, including neuroexcitotoxic, hypoxic, anoxic, and leukoencephalopathy

2) To raise awareness of the sequelae of toxic brain injury and the lack of resources suited to the population - appropriate assisted living, concurrent SUD/brain injury treatment

3) To highlight the need for epidemiologic understanding of the burden of disease, prognosis

4) To touch on other substance induced brain disorders
