Description

Who is that behind the hand-made dog mask? Emma Knox, artist and educator at the Leighton Art Centre, invites you to join her to learn about the combined arts of mask-making and needle felted sculpture. In this workshop participants will explore the techniques of shaping wool into a 3D mask that will comfortably fit the face. Emma will lead participants in creating a mask with the appearance of a woodland creature. Participants can chose from animals that have a snout such as a dog, wolf,or a raccoon.

This workshop is open for first-time felters as well as more experience felters who wish to broaden their experience with the medium. The minimum age required to participate in this workshop is 10 years old. Parents, please be advised that this workshop requires the use of sharp needles. Safety procedures will be reviewed and exepected to be followed by all participants during the workshop.

SUPPLIES

All supplies are included in this workshop.

Please bring a snack, water bottle and lunch for the workshop.

TICKETS

Single tickets are $55.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Emma Knox is an emerging artist based out of Calgary. She specialises in the design and development of technical elements of theatre, where she found her love of mask-making, costumes, make-up special effects, prop making, and scenic painting.She discovered needle felting while teaching at the Leighton Art Centre and applies it constantly to her passion of theatre.
