About the Presenters

Robyn Quinn

Robyn Quinn APR, MAPCom, Fellow CPRS is a dynamic corporate communications professional with more than 20 years experience in sectors that include military, technology, government, not-for-profit, association, higher education, infrastructure and transportation sectors. She currently teaches media relations, content strategy and writing and is a frequent speaker on digital communications and social media for Chambers, associations, universities and business groups. She is the official Authorized Local Expert (ALE) for Constant Contact in British Columbia. A graduate of Royal Roads University (Masters Professional Communications) she is a long time accredited member of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and served as a National and Chapter President. As a passionate communicator, Robyn develops and implements strategic approaches to create powerful connections with customers and audiences. Robyn chairs Island Women in Science and Technology (iWIST) with almost 400 members and was honoured at Government House with a Community Leadership Award in 2018.

Kerry Slavens

Kerry Slavens is the Editor in Chief of Douglas magazine, Victoria's business magazine, and YAM magazine, Victoria's lifestyle magazine. Since graduating from the University of Victoria's Writing Department, Kerry has worked in all aspects of communications, from print and digital media to corporate communications and branding. She excels at crafting the vision and content of publications and putting the pieces together to create outstanding brands. For 15 years, she was a Principal and Creative Director at Artemis PR & Design, an award-winning branding and communications firm, before returning to media. She has ghost-written several books for prominent business personalities and is a popular guest speaker on business, branding, trends and media.
