About this event
When you have to negotiate for something you want, how does it make you feel?
From buying a car, to paying for internet, to landing a job, negotiating is a reality of life.
You know what else is a reality?
Racialized (BIPOC) people continue to earn lower average salaries than white people. According to the findings in “Canada’s Colour Coded Income Inequality”, racialized men earn $0.78 (on average) for every dollar a white man earns, and racialized women earn $0.87 (on average) for every dollar a white woman earns.
If you’re a racialized person negotiating a job, raise, or promotion, chances are you’re asking for something the company already provides. To white people.
So WHY NOT YOU?
Kat Daaca and Rosie Yeung are two Asian diaspora women who want to break the stigma and intimidation factors behind employment negotiations.
In this introductory-level webinar, Rosie (a Certified HR Leader and 20-year business professional) will demystify some key terms and what-to-watch-out-fors in the typical job offer letter, with insights on benchmarks and items to negotiate.
Then Kat (a Supply Chain Management Professional with 10 years’ experience in corporate purchasing) will provide some decolonized negotiation strategies to strengthen our self-awareness and self-advocacy when negotiating.
You’ll leave with the knowledge and mindset to approach your next job negotiation with empowerment and strength.
