Why should I change
Summary:
These days everyone is talking about change management. The fad is catching up. It is fashionable to drop the CM word once a while to get credibility with management. Plans are drawn, budget assigned, new practice of CM created, consultant hired, training carried out. In all this euphoria, the key person is forgotten – the individual.
Change is inevitable. The winds are changing and organizations are feeling the pressure to adjust to the onslaught of new technologies, higher customer expectations, and global competition.
We have heard so many quotes and clichés. So why don’t we find it easy at work place or even at home? That is a tough nut to crack!
“Everyone thinks of changing the world but nobody thinks of changing himself” - Leo Tolstoy
“The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails.” - John Maxwell
We shall clear some of the myths and focus on the individual who is the core to the entire process. We will explore what actually happens in the brain. We will debate why CM efforts meet with limited success.
In this process, we shall also have one or two group exercises of actually rating yourself where each group stands on CM in an actual project in your companies.
We shall also hear the success or otherwise of the change management efforts in my company in last 2-3 years and share lessons learned.
