Wild parties were never her scene (Workshop)
SummerWorks is Canada's largest juried and curated performance festival. Now going into its 26th year, SummerWorks is the place where dedicated professional artists can take risks and push boundaries.
An hour-long multimedia performance occupies the glass-walled storefront of Craft Ontario. This performance is a sighting – your patronage at the bar offers you the perfect view, and you may come and go at your leisure. The performance is about pleasure – hedonistic party culture in the form of an intimate rave. One media artist and two dancers work in their own mediums to ask how the cultivated body navigates pleasurable states in a balancing act of mindfulness and wild abandon. Through repetition, trance, and sweat, they explore ideas of excess, desire, impossibility, and satiety.
JOIN THE PLEASURE PURSUIT: In place of a Sunday performance, a participatory event will be held every 30-minutes. On a first come basis, interested participants may join a facilitated movement exercise guiding them through the bodily experience that underlies this work – a mindful practice of discovering and pursuing pleasure sources identified in simple movements. No dance experience necessary!
