“The expectation that we can be immersed in suffering and loss daily and not be touched by it is as unrealistic as expecting to be able to walk through water without getting wet.” ~ Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D. from Kitchen Table Wisdom

Join Brother John from The Abbey for an impactful presentation and conversation on Empathic Strain for Faith Leaders (90 minutes including Q&A).

Brother John (aka Rev. John Borthwick) is an ordained minister who has served The Presbyterian Church in Canada for a quarter century. Over the years, John has become a certified Community and Workplace Traumatologist and an Empathic Strain (Compassion Fatigue) trainer as an Associate with TEND Academy. His work with First Responders has expanded his understanding and expertise in the area of trauma and resilience. Experiencing his own journey with empathic strain and overwhelm, John is passionate about sharing what he's learned with others who have answered the call to care for others.
