Winter 2026 Reading Circle: Real Ones by Katherena Vermette
Overview
This hybrid event will be a facilitated conversation on Real Ones, "a heartrending story of two Michif sisters who must face their past trauma when their mother is called out for false claims to Indigenous identity" (Good Minds). You are welcome to join no matter how much of the book you have read, but warning, there may be spoilers!
The event will be held hybrid: in-person at OISE (252 Bloor St. W), and via zoom (the link will be provided the day of the event). For those attending in-person, light refreshments will be provided.
This event is part of the Indigenous Literatures Lab's Since Time Immemorial Seasonal Book Club - A book club series intended to better support Indigenous and non-Indigenous English and Language Arts educators, pre-service teachers, and students, as well as Indigenous community members, who are interested in learning and teaching Indigenous literatures.
