Event description
Winter Solstice Breathwave & Sound Journey

About this Event

Connect to your inner light this solstice season through the nourishment of breath and live sound.

The winter solstice celebrates the longest hours of night, and the rebirth of the sun. It is a time of year believed to hold a powerful energy for regeneration, renewal and self-reflection. Solstice can be a magical, contemplative time—a night of spiritual reconnection and ritual. A time to gather with community, and also a time for inward journeys.

Breathwave is a gentle style of breathwork that supports our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual transformation. As we consciously open and connect our breathing in a relaxed state of being, we allow for emotional integration, clarity of mind, and connection to spirit. We breathe fully to oxygenate the body, open our breath, and feel what wants to be felt. Through this practice we begin to find more freedom in our breath, which is then reflected in our life, as each is simply a reflection of the other.

The Breathwave Journey will be accompanied by music from Medicine Fox (Shane Wilson).

Facilitators:

Thilo ManyBears is a local artist, sound healer and has over a decade of experience facilitating breathwork. He has studied with both Judith Kravitz of Tranformational Breath, and Robin Clements, founder of the Breathwave modality. Thilo brings wisdom, light heartedness and a gentle strength to the spaces he works in. In his spare time he visits the Great Bear Rainforest and is involved in initiatives to protect bears.

Jessica Hill is a level 3 Breathwave facilitator, yoga teacher, farmer, mentor for girls and has completed a BASc in Sustainable Agriculture. She is devoted to building community, connecting with Mother Earth and living a healthy lifestyle. Jessica believes that gathering in circle to connect to ourselves is the most healing and profound thing we can do, as cultures around the world have been doing for time immemorial. Jessica is continuously awed by the power of the breath and it brings her heart great joy to share its beauty.

Medicine Fox is Production Artist, Musician, DJ & Sound Healer with Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Celtic roots. Around the world, there is a global culture of shamanic tribal traditions that stretch back into the time before history. From this time there are many musical instruments and techniques that have been passed down, to help the wanderer to awaken to higher levels of consciousness and for spirit journeys. We use the alchemy of technology to fuse sampled sounds with the warmth and organic qualities of live percussion, vocals and instruments creating a new body for an ancient soul. This music is dedicated to the messengers of peace, and to the second voice, the voice of the heart, the voice of love.
