Winter Wonderland Hike at Skunk Hollow (2B)
Overview
Get ready for a guided, beginner-friendly journey into local history!
This isn't just a hike—it's an off-trail adventure (approx. 5 km round trip) starting at the William J. Bagnell Wilderness Area. We’ll follow the historic Skunk Hollow sign, then leave the path to search the snowy hillsides for remnants of a forgotten coal mining operation and its ghost town.
While this exploration features some exciting elevation changes, including steep hills and stairs, your guide will keep a comfortable pace, making it perfect for novice adventurers. Since we’ll be exploring and venturing off-trail, the group will decide which hidden corners of history we uncover next!
Expect a full morning of discovery, stunning winter views, ample time for photos, and a scenic break for lunch.
Prepare for Adventure: Expect cold and snow—please dress warmly in layers and wear appropriate footwear. I will supply traction aids or snow shoes if conditions require them.
Hiking time is variable depending on the group. There is always plenty of time for lunch, photos and discussion. The end time in Eventbrite is just an estimate.
