Toronto Networking Meetup

Join us on Wednesday December 13th for the next WiRE Toronto Chapter Networking Meetup.

WiRE meet-ups present a welcoming and casual opportunity to meet peers, share ideas and opportunities, and educate colleagues about projects and initiatives of interest to the group. All women working in a field related to renewable energy are invited, as are students and developing professionals who are looking for perspectives on joining the renewable energy sector.

Featured Speaker: Dianne Saxe - Environmental Commissioner of Ontario (ECO)
Presentation: Dianne will present an engaging and entertaining talk targeted to all women working in, or wanting to learn more about working in the renewable energy sector.

Dianne Saxe is the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario (ECO), a tough but fair watchdog over Ontario’s environmental, energy and climate performance, and guardian of the Environmental Bill of Rights (EBR). The ECO is a bridge between the public and the government on environmental issues.

Prior to her appointment, Commissioner Saxe was one of Canada’s most respected environmental lawyers. She has 40 years’ unparalleled experience writing, interpreting, and litigating Ontario's energy and environmental laws. Commissioner Saxe’s career began with the Ontario Public Service and two major Bay Street law firms. She then established one of Canada's top environmental law boutiques.

A Certified Environmental Law Specialist, Commissioner Saxe is recognized in every Canadian and international legal rating service, including acknowledgement as one of the world’s top 25 environmental lawyers by Best of the Best, 2008 and as Best Lawyers’ first Environmental Lawyer of the Year for Toronto. Some of her numerous tributes and honours include the Award for Distinguished Service, the highest honour granted by the Ontario Bar Association; and the Gold Key Award for exceptional lifetime professional achievement, granted by Osgoode Hall Law School Alumni.

Commissioner Saxe has travelled extensively in Ontario and Canada, both in her professional practice and as a keen canoeist, kayaker and cross-country skier.

Her five-year appointment will be focused on serving the Ontario Legislature, improving the effectiveness of the Environmental Bill of Rights and catalyzing better environmental, energy and climate outcomes, for and with the people of Ontario.

We hope to see you there!

Notice: Attendance at Networking Events:

We are proud of how much our Toronto meet-ups have grown; we regularly “sell out” on Eventbrite and have a long wait list. Unfortunately, we have been experiencing challenges with an increasing number of women registering for a meet-up and not attending the event. This makes it difficult for the venue to plan for the room set-up and catering, but most importantly, this prevents women on our waitlist from having the opportunity to attend the meet-up.

We kindly ask you to inform us if you have registered and are unable to attend the event so we can release your ticket to a woman on our waitlist.
