Competitions
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 Minute Thesis:
In this competition, presenters must present their research to a non-specialist audience in 3 minutes, using only one slide. The focus of this competition is to challenge competitors to synthesize their findings and to effectively communicate their ideas. The research presented does not have to be part of a completed project, and can be conducted at either the undergraduate or graduate level.
Engineering Design Case Competition:
A team of four will be presented with an technology-based industry problem, and are given one night to craft a solution. Competitors will then present their solution to a panel of judges in the solution who will assess the proposed framework for its feasibility and level of detail. Follow-up questions may be posed to challenge the competitors to think on their feet about potentially unforeseen complications.
Healthcare Case Competition:
Integrating both health and technological interests, competitors will be tasked to present a solution to an issue in the emerging field of healthcare. The best solutions will incorporate interdisciplinary interests, and present an innovative perspective. Competitors may be assessed for the practicality and adaptability of their design, and should expect to engage in a dialogue with judges to tease out the strengths and weaknesses of their proposals.
