Event description
Self-moderated panel + panelist-audience dialogue breakouts on women’s experiences in the changing making sector.

About this Event

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”— Mother Theresa.

As part of SFU’s mobilization for Women Deliver 2019 Conference, “Women as Change-Makers: An Evening of Conversation and Storytelling” will traverse topics of intersectionality, allyship, diversity, inclusion, equity and equal opportunity for women in the change-making sector.

In collaboration with Embark Sustainability and Changemaker Campus, the event will reinvigorate the role women are to play in the change-making sector. The event will proceed in three parts:

  • Personal Storytelling: Each panelist will share defining moments and insights of their career
  • Self-Moderated Panel Discussion: Candid discussions between panelists on themes of inhibition, for women, within the change-making sector
  • Dialogue Breakouts: Simultaneously facilitated by each panelist, the breakouts give space for panelist-audience interactions

When women are leaders, change comes fast. But, what common factors hinder them from reaching positions of power and leadership, within the change-making sector?

Introducing our Panelists:

Candace Le Roy: Director at SFU Sustainability Office

Genevieve Fuji Johnson: Professor at Department of Political Science; Author

*It is our sincere regret to inform that Dr. Johnson will no longer be joining our panel due to circumstances beyond our control.*
