Join us as we launch the 2016 year of Women Entrepreneurship with Erin Dunham.

Erin Dunham is the creative and innovative CEO of the Other Bird Inc., the parent company for The Alex Restaurant, Rapscallion Restaurant, Two Black Sheep, Black Sheep Snack Bar, Except For Kenneth, and most recently, The Mule. 

In the past year, Erin has received the Young Entrepreneur of the Year and outstanding Medium-Sized Business awards from the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. She was also named among 2014's Top Forty Under Forty in Hamilton as well as the top 15 people to watch in Hamilton for 2015 by The Spectator. 
 
She has also been recognized as a strong female influence in industry, being nominated for the RBC Women of Influence awards and most currently, a YWCA Woman of Distinction Award.
 
Not only has her success come in a male-dominated industry, she also raised more than $110,000 through the first successful restaurant crowdfunding campaign to open The Mule.

Women Entrepreneurship

The Women Entrepreneurship Series was founded in 2011 by the late Justin Policarpio. Justin was a proud feminist and worked tirelessly to foster equal representation in the entrepreneurship community. Justin graduated with a Masters in Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation from McMaster University, and subsequently co-founded a robotics-based company, Roboteurs.

 

At the age of 30, after a 5-year long journey with cancer, Justin passed away on September 20th, 2017; It was Justin’s wish that the Women Entrepreneurship Series continue beyond his years. He was a true Canadian entrepreneur; a proud Hamiltonian who worked tirelessly to make his home city a hub for innovation. Justin’s girlfriend, Navita Dyal, and dear friend, Shelley McQuade, have joined forces to continue the very meaningful work that Justin started. We are also grateful to Salma Burney who has very generously volunteered her time to assist with our administrative and social media related needs.
