Amy Willard Cross
Amy Willard Cross is the Founder Buy Up Index, and app and ratings system that scores companies on gender equality. In 2012, she created women’s news site, VITAMIN W Media, which partnered with several women’s organizations such as Our Bodies Ourselves, Hollaback and Girls who Code. She ran a crowd-funding campaign for a documentary on Lorraine Hansbury, and co-created the Add Feminism campaign launched at Deutsch HQ in NYC.
Cross served as an editor at publications such as Flare, Saturday Night and Active—and worked for six years at Chatelaine—where she held various titles. Her essays have appeared in the Globe & Mail, CBC radio and are anthologized in many text books. In Canada, she volunteered with the federal Newcomers program and was named a “Global Women Champion” by New York based Global Connections for Women. A honors graduate of Wellesley, she maintained the family tradition of attending women’s colleges since the 1880’s—and is named for Frances Willard, a friend of her great-grandmother’s.
