Women Leadership Program

Delivered by: Janna Hare, Spark Leadership


This program is intended for women who hold mid to senior level leadership role in a New Brunswick based small and medium sized business.

By joining this program, participants will have an opportunity to working with a group of like-minded leaders who will provide the encouragement, coaching and accountability needed to grow, encourage and support other women throughout the process.


Session 1: Setting the stage, goal setting & Clarity of Values_March 19, 9am to 4pm
Session 2: Anatomy of Trust™_April 2, 1pm to 4pm
Session 3: Vulnerability and Courage_April 16, 1pm to 4pm
Session 4: Leadership Arenas_April 30, 1pm to 4pm
Session 5: Leadership Armour_May 14, 1pm to 4pm
Session 6: Creative vs Reactive Shields_May 28, 1pm to 4pm
Session 7: Wanted/Unwanted Identities_June 11, 1pm to 4pm

Participants will learn how to:

  • Create a clear vision for their collective leadership impact
  • Identify and leverage signature strengths & drivers unique to women in leadership
  • Build an authentic and powerful presence around how they will support other women in developing leadership capacity
  • Help identify high-potential women in their organizations and provide them with mentorship and support
  • Become ambassadors within their organizations and communities to help women cultivate their leadership abilities and confidence in the workforce.
  • Develop an action plan to influence change within their respective organizations and being creating a collective positive impact in the lives of girls and women in their communities

*Wokshop Descriptions

Session 1: Setting the stage, goal setting & Clarity of Values

In this session, participants will:

  • Establish their individual vision for themselves as a leader.
  • Define how they want to expand their leadership capacity.
  • Create a collective goal about how they want to support each other.
  • Identify the personal values that are the most important in their lives and understand how values clarification is essential to the development of resiliency.
  • Identify specific behaviors that align with their values.

Session 2: Anatomy of Trust™

In this session, participants will:

  • Learn how to identify the seven elements of trust and how they can be used as a powerful tool to understand and talk about trust.
  • Practice recognizing and talking about specific trust building behaviors that are important to THEM.
  • Understand the relationship between empathy and trust.


Session 3: Vulnerability and Courage

In this session, participants will:

  • Dispel the four myths of vulnerability and identify the two major vulnerability paradoxes that prevent us from practicing vulnerability.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between vulnerability and courage.

Session 4: Leadership Arenas

In this session, participants will:

  • Understand and begin to utilize the metaphor of the arena to examine the challenges associated with feeling vulnerable or with engaging in behaviors that lead to uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure.
  • Begin to use a shared language within the group to talk about the various components of the arena.

Session 5: Leadership Armour

In this session, participants will:

  • Begin to differentiate between shame, guilt, humiliation, and embarrassment and the link to developing resiliency in their leadership practices.
  • Learn strategies to create healthy and effective ways to reduce burnout and stress and build more joy into each day.


Session 6: Creative vs Reactive Shields

In this session, participants will:

  • Begin to identify the defensive strategies they use to protect themselves and how it impacts their ability to form meaningful connections with others.
  • Differentiate perfectionism from healthy striving and how it might be holding them back.
  • Learn how to set respectful (but firm) boundaries with yourself and others.

Session 7: Wanted and Unwanted Identities / Wrap-up & Celebration

In this session, participants will:

  • Begin to recognize how they try to manage perceptions and why it is not possible.
  • Develop an impact strategy to support their leadership vision for 2020.
  • Celebrate individual and collective successes as a result of this program.
