About this event
Beach United Church hosts international bestselling author Kim Echlin reading from her new book “Speak, Silence” a poetic novel about war and loss, suffering and courage, and the strength of women through it all. "Speak, Silence" weaves together the experiences of a resilient sisterhood and tells the story of the real-life trial that would come to shape history. Echlin explores what it means to speak out against the very people who would do anything to silence you. From the back cover of “Speak, Silence”
They spoke. For themselves, and for us. The whole world cannot stand trial. But we can all be responsible. A human is human through others.
Kim Echlin’s novels have been published in numerous languages and her stories resonate around the world. Her novel “The Disappeared” won the Barnes and Noble award and was short-listed for The Giller Prize. Kim has been a documentary producer, and editor and currently teaches at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies and for the Vermont College MFA program in Creative Writing. Kim is a long time member of Beach United Church.
Following the reading there will be an opportunity to ask Kim questions.
