#WomenInFilmWednesday is a monthly film series of Sudbury Indie Cinema Co-op dedicated to showcasing the recent work of women-directors. We are proud to be re-launching this unique series fall of 2016!
LA BELLE SAISON (Summertime) 2016.
Its 1971, Delphine is twenty-three years old. A farmer's daughter, she comes to Paris so as to be financially independent; she dreams of running her own farm, something unthinkable for a woman to do at this time.
Carole is a Parisian. She's thirty-five years old and lives with Manuel. She's actively involved with the beginning of the feminist movement. When Delphine and Carole meet, their love affair turns their lives upside down. But Delphine is obliged to return to the family farm. Carole follows her. Once there, they'll have to cope with another reality.
Partial proceeds from this screening will be donated to a women's service.
When & Where
Sudbury Indie Cinema Co-op
Sudbury Indie Cinema is a not-for-profit co-op bringing world-class independent cinema to Northern Ontario from various downtown Sudbury locations. We are mission-driven, not profit-driven. We select high-calibre, laudable films and films that give voice to lesser heard perspectives on the big screen. We also actively support other arts organizations and seek to support local homegrown filmmaking. We formed originally as a community response to the growing monopoly of Hollywood blockbusters on a skrinking number of large screens, back in summer 2013. We have since secured a lease to convert and repurpose part of a closed school into a single screen state-of-the-art digital cinema. We expect to open in 2017 at our own location but in the meantime we programme films from other screening venues.
