Featured Speakers

Alexandra Roberts - two years ago she realized that she needed to make a change to her life having only gone for a handful of hikes in her life, she moved to the mountains and, with no small amount of determination, has become an elite rock climber, ice climber, back country skier, trail runner, and notable adventure photographer. She accessibly and vulnerably shares about the path that took her to where she is and some of the funny and poignant bumps along the way. To help share the love of the outdoors, she founded the group Wednesday Sendsday to bring the climbing community together in this region and is the store athlete/ambassador.

Steph Plant is an avid adventurer committed to expanding access and inclusion in the outdoors. She’s active in the Boston-area outdoors community, serving as a program coordinator and former expedition instructor for Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center, coaching youth climbing teams at Central Rock Gym Watertown, leading backcountry skiing, mountaineering, and sea kayaking trips with the MIT Outing Club, and organizing events with Tampons on Crampons, an informal adventure collective that connects and empowers people in the outdoors.

Kristen Re: In addition to being an educator in Providence, Kristin cofounded the Ladies Climbing Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting and empowering women through climbing. She, along with her daughter and husband, is very active in her local climbing community. Her favorite climbing destinations are Bishop and Squamish, and at home in New England.

Rebecca Hammond: Rebecca is an athlete and recent MD who grew up part of a somewhat nontraditional family in northern California. Competitive by nature and taking pleasure in intensity, by adolescence she'd become a top performer in school and in sports. This drive carried her through college, where she earned highest academic honors and was an all American in track, to her Fulbright, and finally to gaining admission at Harvard Medical School, during which attendance she found her way to the top of the nascent sport of obstacle racing in her first year of competition. Now she is done with medical school and realizing that a drive to succeed can lead one astray in the search for the ultimate intensity, the achievement of which at times requires the courage to seek resonance between how you live and what you love.

Kieren Britton - The Lady Alliance: Since the ripe old age of 6 weeks Kieren has been camping, road-tripping and exploring. Dreaming of the ridiculous and making it a reality Kieren has cycled 7000 KM across Canada, converted a school bus to live full time on the road, and created The Lady Alliance. There is nothing she enjoys more than testing the limits, expanding her comfort zones and learning more about herself.

After being told too many times that she was "brave for a girl", Kieren had had enough. We have this bravery in all of us, it's not restricted by gender. She was determined to bring this to light. Kieren is joining us today to talk about our mental barriers, and overcoming self doubt.
