Speakers

Mel and Trevor - Hiking With Sight

Trevor and Melanie became friends in 2018 through their local adaptive sports community. Trevor is blind, and Melanie cannot walk, but they both love the outdoors and came up with the idea to team up, utilizing each other's strengths, and climb a Colorado 14er. Trevor is the legs, carrying Melanie on his back, while Melanie is the eyes, guiding them both as they hike up mountains. A journey of purpose between two friends who exemplify creative problem solving, team work, and are breaking barriers one mountain peak at a time!

Melanie and Trevor are joining us at our Women’s Empowerment Tour - Denver Edition to talk about breaking barriers!

Nerrisa Cannon

Nerissa Cannon's personal battles with mental health and chronic illness have made her passionate about helping other people get the most out of life in spite of a disabling condition. No matter what she pursues, Nerissa uses her life to demonstrate that with a little creativity, illness and injury don’t mean you have to lose your sense of adventure.

Nerissa is currently traveling across the country as she is sponsored by winnebago to demonstrate the wheelchair accessible RV's, and is also an ambassador for non profit organization No Barriers. No Barriers empowers people to break through barriers, find their inner purpose and contribute their best to the world.

Kieren Britton

Since the ripe old age of 6 weeks Kieren has been camping, road-tripping and exploring. Dreaming of the ridiculous and making it a reality Kieren has cycled 7000 KM across Canada, converted a school bus to live full time on the road, and created The Lady Alliance. There is nothing she enjoys more than testing the limits, expanding her comfort zones and learning more about herself.

Kieren considers herself one of the lucky ones. Growing up in the outdoors has crafted her into who she is today. Kieren has found healing and solace, friends and 'framily', and a love for life through adventure.

After being told too many times that she was "brave for a girl", Kieren had had enough. We have this bravery in all of us, it's not restricted by gender. She was determined to bring this to light.

Kieren created The Lady Alliance - which started as an online social community where women had the chance to share their story. Photos, writing, incredible accounts of every day and extraordinary women pushing their limits.

Today, The Lady Alliance has morphed into a beautiful community providing opportunity for women to find empowerment through adventure and, of course, each other.
