Event description

Description

The views are outstanding from Ptarmigan Cirque! Today marks the first day of fall. There is no better way to celebrate it then to head out to the mountains, breathe in the fresh crisp air and check out the larches! It's at this time that the larch trees display their brilliant yellow needles in the sub-alpine and they only last for a week or so!

Ptarmigan Cirque trail starts out at the Highwood Pass, the highest paved pass in Canada. This trail starts so high it doesn't take long to reach the alpine as the trail climbs into a high mountain bowl above treeline which gives incredible views of the surrounding mountains, meadows and larches.

Why Women Only?

We find that when you put a group of women in the outdoors something wonderful happens. The dynamic is totally different, and the support is incredible. It’s a safe place to speak up, ask questions, and gain confidence as you venture to new places. Our conversation tends to be a mixture of fun and sharing stories of our personal journeys and our aim is for you to come home feeling more empowered and connected.

Level of Difficulty

The hike itself is well suited to those discovering hiking as it is 5 km with 230 metres of elevation gain. Come and enjoy spectacular views while having a ton of fun with a like-minded group of ladies! Total hiking time with lots of breaks and time to enjoy the views is approximately 3-4 hours, with addtional driving time to the trailhead. The pacing is set for you, meaning we are out to enjoy the journey with lots of time to stop for photo’s, snack and lunch breaks.

Where We Meet:

We will meet to carpool just west of Calgary at 8:30am as the days are shorter now. We meet at the Petro Canada Gas Station on Hwy 1 and Hwy 22 just outside of Calgary to carpool. You can expect to be back there by 4-5pm at the latest since this hike requires a little more driving time to get to the trailhead.

What's the refund policy?

Hikes are non-refundable within a week prior to the trip date but they can be transferable to someone else.
