Presentation: From a Treater's Perspective | Presented by Craig Wilson

Craig will introduce pesticide regulations in Canada and talk about the various applications for residential and non-residential products. Craig will also explore the pressure treatment process and speak to the governing standard, CSA O80 Series 21 for wood preservation.

Presentation: The Do's & Don'ts for Pressure Treated Wood Applications | Presented by Justin Lesparance

Justin will show project examples to stress the importance of proper specification for treated wood products. He will also discuss best practices for using pressure treated wood and talk about real-life examples of wood project restorations and construction.

Presentation: Introduction to Wood Technology | Presented by Dr. Dan Tingley

Dan will introduce timber durability and speak to the application and treatment of various wood species for pressure treatment applications. As an award winning structural engineer and wood technologist, Dan will showcase examples of successful pressure treated wood applications and speak to their success and lessons learned.


CRAIG WILSON - BScF University of Toronto |Vice President Technical Services, Timber Specialties Ltd.

Craig has nearly 40 years of experience in the wood preservation industry. He currently oversees the Technical Services Department at Timber Specialties which provides preservatives and technically-related services to the wood preservation industry in Canada. He has been involved in many aspects of wood preservation and has served on many committees and associations including; the Canadian Standards Association, the American Wood Preservation Association, Wood Preservation Canada, and was past President for the Canadian Wood Preservation Association. Craig was an integral part of the development of the Use Category System and residential standards for treated wood in the CSA Standards. He has extensive knowledge on the treatability of Canadian Wood species with a variety of waterborne preservatives including CCA, ACQ, Borate, and Micronized copper.

JUSTIN LESPARANCE - General Manager North America, Timber Restoration Services

Justin is in charge of overseeing all projects in North America for Timber Restoration Services (TRS) and he takes pride in working on projects that he can be proud of and doing what’s right for the client. His ability to work effectively, efficiently and safely without cutting corners is what makes him an important part of the team at TRS. Justin’s background ranges from working on large scale commercial and industrial projects to small projects. Dr. DAN TINGLEY - Ph.D , P. ENG. MIE AUST, CPENG, RPEQ | Sr. Structural Engineer, Wood Research & Development

Dr. Dan Tingley is an Award Winning Structural Engineer and Wood Technologist. He was awarded the Charles Pankow Innovative Applications Award in 1996 and the NOVA award for innovation from the Construction Innovation Forum in 1997. He holds a Bachelor's and Master's of Science from the University of New Brunswick in Forestry Engineering and Structural Engineering. Dr. Tingley holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering and Wood Technology from Oregon State University. He is the founder of the award-winning FiRP® Panel Technology and holds over 40 published patents worldwide in the field of wood and high-strength fiber composites. Dr. Tingley has published over 150 publications during his career and has hundreds of designs in-service around the world. These designs vary in nature and size including the notable Frank Loyd Wright structure "Wingspread" in Racine, Wisconsin. He is a licensed professional engineer in many countries from Canada to Australia and currently serves as Sr. Structural Engineer and Wood Technologist for Wood Research & Development.
