Event description

Description

Bill Richardson and Kelly Collier combine art and education to inspire young readers (K-4) to learn. What would happen if the letter B was stolen? In Richardson’s book, The Alphabet Thief, bowls become owls and Z’s send people to sleep. Collier’s book, A Horse Named Steve is a hilarious, and beautifully illustrated picture book about the path to excellence and what makes us special.

A Horse Named Steve (Kelly Collier)

When Steve the horse finds a gold horn in the forest and attaches it to his head, ta-da! Exceptional! His friends are so impressed that they, too, attach objects to their heads in an effort to be as exceptional as Steve. So when Steve suddenly realizes his horn has gone missing, he’s devastated! He won’t be exceptional without his horn! Or will he? A laugh-out-loud tale of an endearingly self-absorbed horse, illustrated in lively black-and-white artwork, A Horse Named Steve explores what truly makes someone exceptional.

The Alphabet Thief (Bill Richardson)

When night falls, along comes a peculiar thief who steals each letter of the alphabet, creating a topsy-turvy world as she goes. It seems that no one can stop her, until the Z’s finally send her to sleep so that all the other letters can scamper back to where they belong. Bill Richardson’s zany rhymes and Roxanna Bikadoroff’s hilarious illustrations will delight young readers with the silly fun they can have with language — and may even inspire budding young writers and artists to create their own word games!
