Description

The perfect event for fans of all ages of YA fiction, as these masters of the genre explore elements of tragedy and how we deal with life’s perils. Susin Nielsen explores love and loss in her tragi-comedy, Optimists Die First, while Susan Juby sends her characters on a whirlwind fashion show that will determine their fates in The Fashion Committee.

Susan Juby

Susan Juby has written a number of acclaimed novels for teenagers and adults, including the bestselling Alice, I Think, a Rolling Stone Best Top 40 Novel and the first of her Alice MacLeod trilogy, which was made into a successful television series. Juby lives with her husband and their dog in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Susin Nielsen

Susin Nielsen got her start writing a spec script for the popular television series Degrassi Junior High. She’s also written many novels, including The Reluctant Journal of Henry K. Larsen, which counted the Governor General’s Literary Award and three Young Readers’ Choice Awards among its many accolades. She lives in Vancouver with her husband and son.
