Workshop Length: half day

Who Should Take This Course: Supervisors, individuals leading inspections, Health and Safety Committee members, Health and Safety Representatives.

Mode of Delivery: Classroom

Course Description: A work site inspection is a useful tool for identifying new, uncontrolled hazards in the workplace, and also for ensuring current hazard controls are in place and effective. This course provides a comprehensive overview of an effective inspections program, and included instruction on how to set up your program, perform an inspection and the follow-up activities that should occur after inspection.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand how workplace inspections fit into the safety program.
  • Describe an effective inspections program.
  • Create effective checklist standards from identified hazards.
  • Conduct a thorough workplace inspection by observing both behaviours and conditions.
  • Create an inspection report and action plan.
  • Analyze trends and needs based on workplace inspection findings.

Exercises: Along with theoretical activities, this workshop involves either a practical mock inspection or a functional inspection of your own workplace.
