Workshop Length: half day

Who Should Take This Course: Supervisors, individuals leading inspections, Health and Safety Committee members and representatives.

Pre-requisites: none

Mode of Delivery: Classroom

Course Description: A work site inspection is a useful tool for identifying new, uncontrolled hazards in the workplace, and also for ensuring current hazard controls are in place and effective. This course provides a comprehensive overview of an effective inspections program, and included instruction on how to set up your program, perform an inspection and the follow-up activities that should occur after inspection.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand why work site inspections are important to your health and safety program
  • Analyze your current inspection process and determine if it meets legislative requirements
  • Understand how the role of all work site parties, especially the health and safety committee fits into work site inspections
  • Perform the 3 phases of the work site inspection process
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of your current work site inspection process

Exercises: Along with theoretical activities, this workshop involves either a practical mock inspection or a functional inspection of your own workplace.
