Event description

The Legal Services Society and Courthouse Libraries BC are teaming up to present a free continuing professional development (CPD) webinar.

Effective communication with a client can be difficult to achieve even under the best possible circumstances, let alone if you client has fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. Individuals affected by FASD are at a higher risk of being involved with the law and the court system. Understanding the communication difficulties common among individuals with FASD can go a long way towards trying to minimize negative and repeated encounters with the legal system. For this one hour webinar, we will be joined by Kristal Bodaly, a speech and language pathologist with the Asante Centre. Kristal has worked with legal professionals to try to understand how FASD affects communication with a client, to improve lawyer-client relations and the interactions individuals with FASD may have with the legal system.

Participants in this course may claim up to 1 hour of CPD, including 1 hour of client care and relations credit.
