Description

Half-Day Workshop 4B: Retention; Know when to fold 'em

This half-day workshop addresses intercultural misunderstandings and conflicts and provides tools for participants to overcome them. Using best practices of Central Alberta star employers as a guide, it highlights effective ways to stop harassment, discrimination and racism whether it comes from customers, co-workers or managers. Participants will also consider using performance evaluation tools as retention strategies, discuss "seeing" talent, and finding ways to let go of employees who are not working out. Creating a safe workplace environment is key to a productive, happy workforce of company champions who bring both new customers and quality job candidates alike.

Learning themes are:

  1. Understanding cultural conflict styles
  2. Addressing harassment, discrimination and racism in the workplace
  3. Performance evaluations as retention tools, seeing talent for promotions, and knowing how to let go if it is not working
