On Wednesday, February 25th, learn the secrets you need to know for attracting, motivating and retaining top talent,from the experts at Right Management and Gowlings. This one workshop features two distinct streams, covering everything from the hiring process to the legal implications onboarding new employees.
- Lisa Ryan, Right Management, presents "Finders Keepers", and will explore how to find and keep top talent,
- Michael Schalke and Christopher Munroe, from Gowlings, will explore the legal implications of hiring and onboarding, an area that is often overlooked.

About our Guest Speakers:

Chris Munroe, Associate, Golwings, has a practice focused on labour and employment law with a particular interest in advising start up and emerging tech companies. He regularly advises both employees and employers on employment agreements, employment standards, termination of employment and human rights issues.
Chris is an active member of the technology group and has assisted with research for a publication on Video Game Law, which was co-written by Roch Ripley and published by LexisNexis in 2012. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Chris worked for a leading video game developer.

Lisa Ryan, Vice President, Talent Management, at Right Management, is an accomplished organizational development professional with over 20 years of experience in leadership development, change management, and executive coaching. Lisa partners with her clients to define and implement strategic solutions that create an aligned, engaged workforce required to achieve organizational goals.
Prior to joining Right Management, Lisa was Senior Consultant at MICA Consulting Partners. She has held progressive leadership and change management roles at Best Buy Canada, BC Gas Utility Ltd, Royal Bank of Canada and Federal Government of Canada. Lisa earned her MBA from the University of British Columbia, has an Organizational Development certificate from National Training Labs, is a Certified Human Resource Professional and an Associate Certified Coach.

Michael Schalke, Associate, Gowlings, has a practice that includes employment, labour, human rights, workers’ compensation, privacy, professional regulatory, administrative, and private international law (the conflict of laws as between different states and other jurisdictional issues). He acts for clients in a variety of industries including technology.
Michael’s practice has a non-adjudicative element, where he assists with commercial transactions, provides strategic advice, drafts contracts / policies, and acts for clients in mediation. Michael’s practice also has a contentious aspect, where he litigates before various courts and tribunals (including BC Court of Appeal, BC Supreme Court, BC Labour Relations Board, BC Employment Standards Branch and Tribunal, BC Human Rights Tribunal and BC Health Professions Review Board).

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Yes. If you are unable to attend, please pass your ticket to another member of your team as registration fees are non-refundable. Kindly contact us with any changes.
Do I have to bring a printed ticket to the event?
No. Your name will be on the registration list, but please keep your registration confirmation email on hand just in case.
What is the refund policy?
Registration fees are non-refundable, but you can transfer your ticket to another person on your team.
Do I need to bring any supplies?
We suggest you bring a notebook or tablet to capture any notes.
What are my tranportation/parking options?
The Hub is conveniently located 7 minutes by foot from VCC-Clark SkyTrain station. There is ample free parking on the street, as well as a visitor parking lot that is available for an hourly rate. Further information on parking locations and rates can be found here.
Please plan ahead for a safe ride home.
Will any catering be provided?
Coffee & tea will be provided. There is a cafe on-site should you wish to purchase additional items.
