Measuring, Communicating & Demonstrating the Impact Of Non-Profits to Funders Workshop

Do you need to build a case for support for your non-profit? Do you want to attract funders? Do you need to report out to current funders? Do you want to plan for the future? Do you need to continuously show your value to the community/stakeholders? Is it time to clarify your strategic plan? This workshop is for you.

This workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and tools needed to use data more effectively to communicate program and organizational value to potential and current funders and other stakeholders. During this workshop, attendees will create a Demonstrating Value (DV) Snapshot visual communication tool developed in 2007 by a collaboration of 20 community organizations and led by Van City Community Foundation.

Workshop Facilitator
Sarah Saso CSR-P will show you how create your organizations Demonstrating Value Snapshot in a half day workshop in Toronto. In addition being a certified Corporate Social responsibility Professional, Sarah has extensive experience working in the corporate, non-profit and public sectors. Sarah has facilitated capacity building workshop sessions for hundreds of non-profits in Canada and is looking forward to sharing what she has learned to build capacity of the non-profit sector during this dynamic workshop.

BIO, Sarah Saso, CSR-P

Sarah Saso is a certified Corporate Social Responsibility Professional and has extensive experience working in the corporate, non-profit and public sectors. She has provided strategic philanthropic and corporate sponsorship counsel to HSBC, CIBC, Manulife Financial and Green Shield Canada.

 

In her 20+ years in the community investment and charitable sector, Sarah has reviewed, assessed, visited and worked with hundreds of Canadian Charities. Sarah has executed millions of dollars in philanthropic investments in Canada and in other parts of the world.

 

Most recently as the Executive Director of Green Shield Canada Foundation, Sarah managed one of Canada’s largest corporate foundations, with $60 million in assets. Direct day-to-day operations, including development and implementation of the strategic direction, program execution, financial management, investment monitoring and related communications. Outside of the Foundation, Sarah was responsible for setting the direction and implementation plans related to CSR, social impact investing and social impact granting.

 

Prior to working at Green Shield, Sarah was the Director of Community Relations at Manulife Financial where she was responsible for the Corporate Giving, Corporate Social Responsibility and Employee Volunteer programs. While at Manulife Sarah proved, in an evidence-based study, that there are bottom-line business benefits connected to employer supported volunteerism.

 

Prior to working at Manulife, Sarah helped create CIBC’s sponsorship strategy. Sarah strengthened the Company’s brand by focusing efforts, around the CIBC Run for the Cure, The Vancouver Olympic Bid, Cirque du Soleil, the Canadian Soccer Association and Alpine Canada. In 2004 Sarah worked on the Summer Athens Olympic Games for Alpha Bank.

 

Prior to working in the Corporate Sector, Sarah was a professional fundraiser in the arts and culture sector. She initiated and developed special events, corporate, individual, membership based fundraising and sponsorship campaigns for the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto Arts Foundation and Heritage Toronto.

 

Sarah is active in the charitable sector space as a volunteer and advisor. She presently sits on the advisory board of the Conference Board of Canada’s Corporate Council and is on membership committee of Philanthropic Foundations Canada. She is also the past co-chair of Corporate Grantmakers. In 2018 she will be the Chair of the Furniture Bank’s Chair Affair.

 

Sarah has built strong influential strategic partnerships and alliances with leading Canadian Charities, Corporations, government agencies, universities and colleges, community based organizations, corporate, private, and family foundations. This has given her access to a wide-ranging stakeholder network that she can call to support collaboration, incubation and social enterprise.
