We invite you to join Incubate for our Social Incubator Pilot Series. Ranjit Khatkur, of Towards Social Justice is a leader in community engagement, teaching who you need to mobilize, when, for effective social change.
Ranjit Khatkur is a former educator with experience in India, England and Canada. Ranjit is a social justice activist who created 'Towards Social Justice' a collective of volunteers who raise awareness about injustices in Peel and beyond and take ACTION to create a more equitable community. Ranjit has created, produced and hosted a Rogers TV show called 'Insight' that addressed issues of social injustice through the authentic voice, research and Voice to Action. Ranjit is currently advocating for the creation of a safe space for survivors of sexual abuse in Brampton called 'Shanti Sanctuary'.
She is passionate about the arts and works with many artists to ensure they have opportunities to seek paid employment opportunities through Brampton 365. After retiring from Peel District School she continues to advocate for equity by creating Peel Coalition Against Racialized Discrimination (P-CARD). Ranjit Khatkur is Ministry trained in Restorative Justice and served as a Youth Justice Committee member from 2008 - 2011. Her role as Restorative Justice Facilitator was overseen by the Steering Committee--Crown Attorney, police, victim services, defence council, legal aid--and approved by the Ministry of the Attorney General. The YJC is a diversion program for young offenders between 12-18 years of age that have been charged with low-risk offenses.
Ranjit is the author of her biography entitled 'The Endless Journey' that is currently in its final edit and almost ready for publishing.
