Event description
As one of Scotlandʼs treasured folk musicians, David is steeped in the traditional art of storytelling that has long been preserved in song

About this Event

As one of Scotlandʼs treasured folk musicians, David Francis is steeped in the traditional art of storytelling that has long been preserved in song and ballad in Scotland. He is clever and gifted at moving from story to song and back again in entrancing ways.

Participants will work in practical, hands-on ways with ballads as a possible approach to developing repertoire for storytelling. Magical realism, contemporary settings, and maintaining archetypes are some of the things you’ll explore.

Participants need to have some experience with storytelling, ballads, or folksongs. Whatever level you’re at, you’ll get a chance to be creative.
