Workshop Supporting Adults: Independent Facilitation and Person-Directed Planning

Workshop Description:

 York Region Lifetime Independent Facilitation’s goal is to promote lifetime independent facilitation to empower people to be full citizens in their community. This informative session  will explore what Independent Facilitation and person-directed planning is and how it can benefit your adult child. Members of YRLIF will be on hand to discuss the benefits of Independent Facilitation, how you can utilize your passport funding to access services, and answer any questions you might have.

Workshop is for parents of kids 13+ transitioning into adulthood or with adult children.

Refreshments will be provided.

Atelier de soutien aux adultes: facilitation indépendante et planification dirigée par la personne

Description de l'atelier: le but de la facilitation indépendante à vie de la région de York est de promouvoir la facilitation indépendante à vie pour habiliter les gens à être des citoyens à plein temps dans leur communauté. Cette séance d'information explorera ce qu'est la facilitation indépendante et la planification axée sur la personne et comment elle peut profiter à votre enfant adulte. Les membres du YRLIF seront sur place pour discuter des avantages de la facilitation indépendante, comment vous pouvez utiliser votre financement de passeport pour accéder aux services, et répondre à toutes les questions que vous pourriez avoir.

Atelier est pour les parents d'enfants 13 + transition vers l'âge adulte ou avec des enfants adultes.

Des rafraîchissements seront fournis.

General FAQ


1.) Do I need to print out ticket or email confirmations to attend this event?

For most of our events there is no need to print anything, unless the event specifies otherwise.  When you arrive at the event, you will have to check in at the registration desk.  You will be asked for your name and how many people are attending with you.  That's all.


2.) Do I need to bring proof of diagnosis?

No, not needed.  Again, just check in at the registration desk and enjoy the event.


3.) Is there a cost to attend this event?

Almost all of our events are free of charge because the cost is covered by Autism Ontario's Potential Programme, in partnership with Ontario’s Ministry of Children & Youth Services and the local Autism Ontario Chapter.  If there is a cost, you will see it on the registration page when you select how many ticket you want.


4.) Do I need to be a member of Autism Ontario to register and participate?

No.  While membership does provide other great opportunities, events provided through Autism Ontario’s Potential Programme are open to all families of children with ASD, under the age of 18, who reside in Ontario.
