Event description

Description

THE ARTS-BASED RESEARCH STUDIO ARTIST IN RESIDENCE POGRAM PRESENTS: Vocal Improvisation, Vulnerability & Play (with Karen Porrka & Maren Elliott)

This workshop will explore human interaction from both an intellectual and a phenomenological standpoint. It will begin with a brief artist talk by Maren Elliott on themes of vulnerability and human interaction as they relate to her body of work at the Arts-Based Research Studio, drawing on literature review as well as her own self-discovery through creative practice. It will then invite participants in to a guided series of vocal improvisation facilitated by Karen Porrka (director of the Vocal Improvisation Network of Edmonton). Through these two activities, the power of art production as a model of and reflection on vulnerability, play, and relationships in real life will be investigated.
