Event description

Description

speqtrum is proud to present our first workshop, "Writing for Publication", this December 16th.

This workshop is for all #hamontqt folks 17-29 with an interest in writing, citizen journalism, and sharing their opinions and experiences. No experience required, though we suggest you come with a few ideas in your noggin to jumpstart a potential piece. All participants will be invited to submit their pieces in BentQ, Hamilton's LGBTQ2SI+ Media and Community hub, and will have an opportunity to interact with BentQ's editorial team.

Our workshop will be lead by Ana Qarri, a speqtrum cofounder and former Managing Editor of The Silhouette, McMaster's student newspaper. Ana has covered McMaster and Hamilton queer and trans issues since 2012, essentially reintroducing LGBTQ2S+ issues and coverage to the publication. Following her graduation in the Arts and Sciences program, she is currently serving as a parliamentary intern at Queen's Park, with plans to attend law school next fall. Ana will be supported by some of Hamilton's most fabulous queer and trans young writers to support you in developing your ideas.

Accessibility: Bus tickets provided, Meal provided, YWCA Hamilton is a wheelchair accessible space. Further accessibility concerns may be directed to info@speqtrum.ca
