Event description
A dynamic, generative writing workshop for writers seeking to focus on their writing Write here. Write Now. in a supportive community.

About this Event

There is always something to do. Laundry. Dishes. Bills. All kinds of adulting. For creative people, putting their work aside can feel like stuffing lightening in a bottle.

It’s easy to let that light go dim.

This workshop will uncork you- it’ll set your creativity ablaze.

You’ll dedicate two hours a week to your writing, with the energy of an enthusiastic facilitator and a group of writers behind you.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time. If you’ve been trying to find your way back to your writing.

If you aren’t sure how or when to get started, the answer is Write Here. Write Now.

What to expect

We will meet weekly in a small group. (Max 10 participants.) All workshops begin with getting to know one another, and guidelines to make sure everyone feels safe, comfortable and supported in the Wordplay Workshops community.

Workshops are designed to be generative; you don’t need to show up with anything other than a way to access Zoom, a pen and a notebook.

Each time we meet Meg will share a series of prompts designed to help you

  • Explore your own desires as a writer
  • Dig deep into your imagination
  • Write what you know
  • Write things you’ve never thought of before

Prompts will be followed by time to write, with the energy of the group surrounding you.

This writing time is yours; if you’ve come with an idea that’s just waiting to be explored, follow that muse. If the prompt speaks to you, write with it.

Prompts are always suggestions, and not mandates. In a Wordplay Workshop is there is no wrong way to write.

After we write individually we come back together to share what we’ve created.

With the understanding that everyone’s writing is newly spilled, we will help each other find the bits and pieces that are beautiful.

In between writing and sharing, there are conversations about creativity, writing and community. This dynamic interaction is an earmark of Wordplay’s Workshops; Workshops ebb and flow with participants energy and interests.

You will finish each session with a few new pieces started, uplifting feedback from the group, new ideas to inspire you, and and idea of how to take what you’ve created and work with it moving forward.

What next

By the end of the seven weeks you’ll have new friends, new fans, new writing started and a new community to carry you forward on your writer’s journey. (Check out our monthly WordPlayDates for Wordplay Workshops Alumni.)

For examples of writing prompts, you can check out Wordplay Workshops on Instagram, sign up for the newsletter, and join Meg on Facebook live for short guided writing exercises.
