Event Information
About this Event
Join us on Discord every Tuesday for WriteOUT!, a safer and nonjudgmental writing collective for queer SFU/FIC students wanting to grow as writers, push back against the constraints of academic writing, and use writing to bring about change!
In collaboration with SFU Student Learning Commons, we've created a space at WriteOUT! where you can:
- Discuss your writing woes and wins
- Work on your relationship with writing
- Challenge yourself as a writer
- Get writing motivation and support
- Learn inclusive writing skills
- Break the 'rules' of writing - and make your own
- Tackle writing anxiety and perfectionism
- Learn to think about yourself as a writer
- Grow with a community of queer writers
- Discover writing with impact
WriteOUT! is a supportive and subversive space for you to take a deep dive into everything writing. More than a space to receive feedback on your writing, it is a space to connect deeply with your inner writer.
Launch Event
To kick things off, our very first event on January 26th will be extra special! We'll have additional time to build a positive and trusting group environment with icebreakers, writing activities, and engaging conversation. As well, all attendees at the launch event will be entered into a prize draw to win a $50 gift card at Spartacus Books, a radical bookstore and community space whose origins can be traced back to SFU!
Be sure to join us for our launch and become part of a tight-knit group of queer writers you'll form a fantastic bond with over the course of the semester!
