Writing for Young Readers: A Workshop with Angela Misri
Event Information
About this event
In this three-hour workshop Angela Misri will take writers through the steps of creating and pitching stories for middle grades and young adult readers. This includes exercises in world-building, younger points of view, character, diversity, educational vs. entertainment writing, and story arcs.
Participants are welcome to arrive with own existing ideas and writing. We will be sharing our work at different points in the workshop.
Angela Misri is an award-winning digital journalist, novelist and instructor with more than twenty years of experience, fourteen of them with the CBC and now as the Digital Director for The Walrus. She is also the author of seven books, including the 2021 Hackmatack fiction winner, Pickles vs the Zombies.
Please note this workshop is intended for adults learning more about writing for young readers. This workshop is presented in partnership with the Canadian Authors Association, Niagara Branch.
