Join Naben Ruthnum for a free workshop for writers of fiction and screenplays who want to ramp up the suspense in their work. In this 1.5 hour workshop, Naben will help you develop your craft and augment your skills to thrill your readers and your audience.
This free workshop is open to the public but has a limited capacity. Half of the spaces will be prioritized for students of the University of Manitoba.
Naben Ruthnum is the best-selling author of two thrillers written under the pen name Nathan Ripley: Your Life is Mine and Find You in the Dark, both published by Simon & Schuster Canada. He is a screenwriter and was a staff writer on Season 4 of CTV's Cardinal. He is also the author of Curry: Eating, Reading, and Race (Coach House) and the forthcoming novel A Hero for Our Time (McClelland & Stewart, 2022). This workshop is the first of what is hoped to be many events from Winnipeg's Cold Case Festival of Crime Literature celebrating noir, mystery, true crime, thriller and suspense fiction. Cold Case champions the increasing depth and breadth of the genre and the diversity of crime literature's creators and we hope to schedule more readings and author events throughout the year - with a particular focus on events during the dead of the Winnipeg winter.
