Writing to Heal - Online Workshop - Truth in Fiction
3 Hour Workshop
*Price per ticket of $29.95 includes taxes and fees.
Expressive writing, also known as writing for wellness and therapeutic writing has revealed a new world to me. I’ve found that when I write about my personal experiences, goals and desires, I achieve a sense of peace and acceptance about life’s many challenges. I’ve also found that when I write for myself without listening to my inner critic or focusing on financial gain, the quality of my writing improves. But most importantly, expressive writing has taught me to be vulnerable. I’ve learned to reveal myself to myself, and ultimately, understand and appreciate who I really am.
Do you want to learn how to reflect inwards and unlock what you keep hidden, even from yourself? Find out how expressive writing leads to deeper self-acceptance and healing. In this workshop, participants will move through a series of fiction-based writing prompts designed to explore themes connected to their lived experience. Using fiction as a way to examine emotional truths, you will:
-
Learn techniques for restorying self
-
Explore approaches to self-reflective writing
-
Review contexts where writing is being used for personal development
-
Share your writing with the instructor and participants (on a voluntary basis and as time permits)
Please bring a notebook or paper, and a pen or pencil. You will be writing during this workshop. You may also use your computer to write, however writing by hand is strongly recommended.
Kat McNichol, Editor-in-Chief of Dreamers Creative Writing, presents this Writing to Heal Workshop Series. This workshop, "Writing to Heal Online - Truth in Fiction," is the second in this themed series of virtual workshops. Participants can take all workshops or any workshop. These workshops do not need to be done in order and even if you miss one, you can still take the next one. Each workshop has a unique theme. Therapeutic writing is intended to be an ongoing practice, much like yoga or meditation. The more often you practice, the better your words will flow onto the page.
*You will receive your unique Zoom link by email approximately 2 hours prior to the start of the workshop. Refunds will not be provided due to incompatible technology. Please use the following link to test your system's compatibility with Zoom prior to registering: https://zoom.us/test
