Event description

Description

For August, Volta’s WTWT program will host three of Halifax’s most popular online influencers: Kyle Racki, Kayla Short, and Dave Culligan. Discover how they’ve positioned themselves online to gain traction for both their personal and professional brands. Facilitated by Katelyn Bourgoin, learn how to navigate social channels, create engaging content, and build your brand.

FACILITATOR:

Katelyn Bourgoin is a serial entrepreneur with experience spanning the marketing, tech and hospitality sectors. After starting her first business at 25 years old, Katelyn went on to found three award-winning companies. Katelyn’s entrepreneurial journey has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. She was named as one of Nova Scotia’s top 10 young entrepreneurs in 2012, she sold her first business in 2013, she was named an influential entrepreneur by Forbes in 2016, and, in 2017 she made the difficult decision to close down her venture-backed tech startup after 3 years in operation. With vast experience as a marketer and product designer, today Katelyn works as a growth strategist and trainer. The majority of her clients are early-stage tech companies.

PANELISTS:

Kyle Racki - In his past life as a designer, and as an agency owner, Kyle shed his fair share of blood, sweat, and bitter tears over the aggravating inefficiency of the average proposal process. And since necessity is the mother of invention, along came Proposify, a SaaS business that streamlines the proposal making process. Kyle is an experienced entrepreneur with over 10 years experience and is the current CEO of Proposify. He is also a new angel investor, having invested in companies such as Cribcut.

Dave Culligan - Dave is the Founder and CEO of threesixfive Media that pairs dynamic video content with unique distribution strategies. He got his start shooting daily videos, on his iPhone, for his "365 Project" before landing a number of production & consulting contracts with major brands such as Red Bull, EllisDon, & SaltWire. He's extremely passionate about the potential for social media and the internet to bring people together and create real-world connections.

Kayla Short - Kayla is the lifestyle blogger and creator of Short Presents, a blog focusing on food, fashion, beauty and travel. Trained as a teacher, Kayla hopes to inspire her readers to live their best life possible whether it’s through a healthy (and delicious) recipe, or beauty and style advice. Motivated by kindness, her goal is help others look and feel good both inside and out. In addition to maintaining the Short Presents brand, she is a published fashion writer, franchised contributor to the Huffington Post, on-air lifestyle expert, style panelist for Fashion Magazine, and sought after Fashion Consultant in the Halifax area.

What is WTWT? The Women Taking over the World with Tech (WTWT) program supports Atlantic Canadian female founders and leaders in the technology sector. This program will feature events, workshops, in-depth fireside chats and socials. We want to give you a collaborative community to discuss the issues women face in the tech industry and support you through our network with resources available through our program.

Who can attend WTWT events? If you are a founder, have a managing role in a startup or are working in a role supported by the tech sector, we want to connect you with other women in the industry!

Why come? We surveyed Atlantic women in the tech sector and found that many want a community that offers more than networking. This program offers five unique ways to get involved and learn something meaningful, and enjoy the company of like-minded women.

NOTE: If you're unable to attend any of our events please take a minute and cancel your ticket. This allows our events team to better prepare for every event. Volta strives to ensure that all our events are financially accessible to everyone and puts a great deal of time and effort into event execution. We also ask that you do not register for an event unless you're 100% committed to attending.
