District 3 has partnered with the XPRIZE Foundation to lead the Feed the Next Billion competition in Canada. This global challenge is focused on creating sustainable alternatives to chicken breasts or fish fillets that replicate and/or outperform conventional foods.
District 3 is investing in the future of alternative proteins, agri-tech, and biotech. If you are an individual or a team in Canada with expertise in alternative proteins, join us on May 27th to network and learn more about XPRIZE Feed the Next Billion challenge.

Ahmed Khan, Co-Founder of Cellular Agriculture Canada
A cellular agriculture consultant, and co-founder and member of the board of directors of Cellular Agriculture Canada, a non-profit organization advancing and promoting the cellular agriculture industry in Canada. Ahmed has previously spoken about cellular agriculture in Canada, England, Singapore, and the United States. Ahmed first learned about cellular agriculture while studying at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
Bill Greuel, CEO at Protein Industry Canada
Bill’s combined passions for agriculture and innovation were the driving forces behind his career. Initially, this led him to private sector jobs at a biotech start-up, in the canola industry and at a large multi-national agriculture company. Bill then transitioned to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, where he worked as a Provincial Oilseed Specialist, Research and Development Manager and Executive Director of Crops and Irrigation Branch before accepting the role of Assistant Deputy Minister, Regulatory and Innovation.
Jordan Giali, Community Lead at XPRIZE
Jordan Giali is the Community Lead on XPRIZE Feed the Next Billion, where he manages the competition’s teams, partners, and ecosystem.
Andy Manel, Ambassador, Canada XPRIZE Feed the Next Billion
Andy believes that innovative technology can bring a future of abundance and freedom for humanity. In his role in the artificial intelligence and biotech stream at District 3, he has worked as Canada Eastern Coordinator in the global competition ANA Avatar XPRIZE. He is also collaborating and co-designing a program to apply artificial intelligence on genomics and other applications around AI for Social Good.

Protein Industries Canada (PIC) is an industry-led, not-for-profit organization created to position Canada as a global source of high-quality plant protein and plant-based co-products. We are one of Canada’s five innovation Superclusters.
